  • Title: Nanotech Revolution in Aquaculture: A Review of Synthesis Strategies and Emerging Applications

Abstract

The aquaculture industry faces growing challenges to meet the rising global demand for seafood while ensuring environmental sustainability. Nanotechnology presents a revolutionary approach to address these challenges by utilizing nanoparticles with unique properties. This review explores the current state of nanotechnology in aquaculture, focusing on synthesis strategies and emerging applications. We discuss various top-down and bottom-up nanoparticle synthesis approaches, highlighting bioinspired eco-friendly production methods. Tailoring nanoparticle properties for specific functionalities like size and surface charge is addressed. The review emphasizes emerging applications of nanoparticles in aquaculture, including enhanced disease prevention and treatment through targeted drug delivery using nanocarriers. Improved nutrient delivery and utilization in fish and shrimp using nanoparticles is also explored. The potential of nanomaterials for bioremediation of aquaculture effluents and real-time water quality monitoring through nanosensors is discussed. Finally, the review briefly considers the environmental impact of nanomaterials in aquaculture and the regulatory landscape for their implementation. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the transformative potential of nanotechnology in revolutionizing sustainable aquaculture practices.
